Last week I had the pleasure of running a live tweeterview with Greg Boser (@gregboser), about SMX Sydney, at which he will be presenting, and Search in general terms.

Having finally met Greg in person at last year’s SMX event, it was a good prelude to hearing his thoughts again this week.

Greg’s history is well known in search circles, let’s just say he has been doing search long enough to know his stuff. More importantly he just does. He generates results personally and under the umbrella of 3dogmedia that require little fanfare.

In short:

  • He is presenting three sessions this year
  • The link map changes created by the explosion of social media matter!
  • Gaming the system still exists
  • Read what search SPAM means to him ;)
  • Site speed likely to be a long term impact not so much an immediate one
  • He still isn’t a Google fan boy
  • Bing isn’t in the picture at present
  • Local matters – but you knew that already didn’t you! ;)
  • Assumptive filtering is the biggest thing to watch and his biggest peeve
  • And a little more…

We hear many things about web technology each year, and web marketing. Search is definitely not a dead topic, and while Social Media adds lots to the equation, smart people use all the available tools to understand them.

I am looking forward to hearing from the interesting line up of overseas presenters and some fresh perspective about the state of search and search marketing this week. Some times there is only so much you can hear in the same fish bowl!

Well that’s what ireckon anyway
